Join us for a night of wonderment as we take you on a journey to Africa. Guest speaker Kerri Wolter from Vulpro, will be travelling from Africa to the UK to join us at this black tie event to talk about the work Vulpro does to conserve and protect Vultures in the wild in Africa. Enjoy a glass of Prosecco or non-alcoholic alternative on arrival, a three course meal, and an evening of talks by Kerri and the team at Gauntlet Birds of Prey. We will also be holding a live auction and raffle.

The purpose of this event is to raise funds to assist Vulpro in purchasing an 8-ton truck and its adaption into a much needed Vulture ambulance.

What is a Vulture ambulance?

A purpose-built/modified mobile intensive care unit developed and deployed across remote parts of Africa to respond to vulture poisoning incidents.

Why it’s needed

  • Vultures are highly vulnerable to mass poisoning (often accidental from poisoned carcasses or intentional misuse of pesticides).
  • These events frequently happen in remote, hard-to-reach locations; transport to a fixed rehabilitation centre can take too long, leading to high mortality.

What it does

  • Functions as a fully equipped field hospital.
  • Allows vets and conservationists to give immediate emergency care: activated charcoal to stop toxin absorption, intravenous fluids, anti-convulsants, and supportive care.
  • Stabilises birds on-site before safe transport to a centre for longer-term recovery.

Conservation impact

Vultures are among the most threatened bird groups globally. Rapid response via these ambulances drastically improves survival rates and helps reduce population declines.
