Plan Your Visit
Come for a flying visit – stay all day!
Each day we hold a talk on Vultures, there’s a meet and greet session and two flying displays. In between our daily events you can take a walk around the park and see our Owls, Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Vultures and some of the more unusual residents like the Marabou Stork, Red-legged Seriema and Caracara!
There’s a café, picnic area and picnic benches dotted throughout the park and a children’s play area in the shape of a large wooden fort – so you’ll never be short of things to do.
Daily Events in Spring, Summer & Autumn
12pm – Stop at the Vulture Restaurant
The day kicks off with an informative Vulture talk, where we talk to you about the plight of Vultures across the world, and how Gauntlet Birds of Prey work alongside Gauntlet Conservation Trust to help protect these creatures in the wild.
12.30pm – Get seated for the Flying Display
Take a seat and be prepared to duck as Gauntlet’s spectacular birds whizz around our display arena! Our cheeky Vultures will spill into the arena in search of mischief and some of our noisy residents may have a thing or two to tell you. Enjoy the show!
2pm – Get ready to meet some feathered and furry friends
A chance to meet some of Gauntlet’s residents.
3pm – Prepare yourself for a Flying Display with a difference
Different from our 12.30pm display, see a new set of birds take to the skies. Our flying finale is a truly spectacular experience, that will have you on the edge of your seat. With mixed species from all over the world, prepare to be amazed!
Daily Events in Winter
During November and December when the park is open ‘Weekends Only’ and at February Half Term we have two events on during the day, due to seasonal changes like the weather, it becoming darker earlier and for the welfare of our African birds.* On colder, rainy days we take our daily events indoors. Please note: for their welfare some of our birds stay in their enclosures during bad weather spells.
*During Christmas Week there is NO 12.30pm Flying Show or 2.00pm Meet & Greet.
12.30pm – Get seated for our Winter Wings Show
Meet our Owls, Vultures and Eagles, watch them soar against a wintry backdrop. Then be amazed by our magnificent Kites as they take to the air! Please note: changes to our Winter flying display may occur due to weather conditions.
2pm – Get ready to meet some feathered and furry friends
A chance to meet some of Gauntlet’s residents – up close! Feel the soft feathers of a deadly Owl, meet one of our more smelly residents and watch one of nature’s greatest predators devour it’s lunch (optional – just close your eyes)!
Children’s activities:
Children can meet and feed our goats (purchase feed at the café/shop) and watch our cheeky Meerkats. There’s a spacious wooden fort play area with swings and sand pit adjacent to the café and picnic area.
PLEASE NOTE: All children must be supervised whilst playing in the play area and throughout the park, and are the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian.
